I first met Efua Dorkenoo in 2010 with her husband Freddie in a primary care event run by the association for psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the NHS. The event was on counselling women who have been traumatised by FGM. Efua and I immediately clicked and she become my mentor. Today I could not be doing what I do with Kids Company as an FGM consultant if it was not for her inspiration. May your soul rest in peace my mama and may God give us the courage to continue the fight you started more than thirty years ago against the practice of FGM.
